So.. He's trying to prove what point, exactly? That a retired Navy Captain and astronaut shouldn't pass a background check to buy a rifle? I'm taking some liberties here, but I'd imagine he probably has a Top Secret security clearance already.

No no no, the point is that he can have a match trigger and flash suppressor attached by a gunsmith with no background check. THE HORROR!

Apparently the gun is still at the store because even though Mr. Kelly was only buying it to make a point, his point also needed a new match trigger and flash suppressor.

So ridiculous yet USA Today still falls for it.
