Maybe I saw Red Dawn too many times growing up...

I think on Red Dawn they referenced the 4473?
They did...and for once in Hollywood...they got it right. In order for anyone to know "who had guns" they would have to go to the various stores that sell guns and physically retrieve and go through all of the 4473's. There is no nationwide "list" of gun owners. There just isn't. Sorry.

Not yet anyways. It does kind of exist at the state level in places like Jersey, and NY.

Last I heard NICS check info is not destroyed for at least 6 months: part of the list.
ATF receives 4473s of the out-of-business FFL dealers. Pure speculation here, but I doubt records stay in paper form. Second part of the list.
