Mid-life career change... What would you change to?

1.) I've been hanging around some Democrats so as to learn how to "act" less intelligent. I tried actually lowering my I.Q. but I failed at that.
2.) I haven't worked in a year and I plan to spend the summer developing a really deep tan so I might be able to pass myself off as a member of the protected class and not an evil Caucasian. Should make it easier to find a job, especially with my mastery of ebonics.
Bahahahahaha!!!

I'm just curious. I've lost my passion for my field and have grown to resent it. Looking to hit the reset button. I won't set limitations on suggestions so that someone else may benefit who is not in my exact shoes.

Going back to school is ok to achieve the goal.

COBOL programming, it would take anywhere from 6 months to 12 months training. Minimum salary about 65/hr... after 5 yrs, 110/hr. It's going to be around another 50 years... 30 years ago, they said it wouldn't be around 20 more years. Work from home...

What do you like doing and what do you currently do? Without this information this thread is useless because we could all be suggesting your current field.

That's ok, that is why I left that info out. I wanted a wide array in case someone else was in the same boat. Since this post is a little buried, I'll go ahead and come out with it... I'm in the medical field.

I`ve "retired" several times, usually for a year or two, but once for about five years. I get bored after doing the same thing after about three years, except for my military jobs and one of my civilian jobs. If I had the time on earth left, and the body, and the money to start another long term effort, I would farm. Only crops, no critters to feed. Maybe just hay and a garden. You can`t go off huntin for weeks if you have critters to feed. I once considered training to be a crop duster. Always had that in the back of my mind. Only thing is, if the airplane don`t kill you, the chemicals will. ( old saying). The chemicals, or getting soaked with them, and breathing them, ain`t my bag.

I personally wouldn’t change a thing I’ve done. Was in the auto parts business early in my teens and twenty’s and then in to the marine trade selling and repairing boats /motors at which time I took up boat racing. Did a total 180 and went in to Commercial building and site development work for 30 years. Made outstanding money and just semi retired 2years ago. Now I sub my knowledge out in a consulting manner and enjoy it all. I’ve never not enjoyed all of my professions. I’ve been one of the lucky few to have never applied for a job or profession. They have always found me. Again... very lucky.
I wish you the best.
