Question for the experts? If I bought a Garand and changed out the gas plug could I shoot regular 30-06 ammo and not damage any of the components?

Just order a Garand gear gas plug and shoot away. I will not shoot steel rounds just brass. I have shot everything out of my m1 with that gas plug works great.
