I have to move an 8' pool table out of the garage while the floor gets recovered then put it right back.
it's all level and just needs to go 20 feet out the garage door. I was going to get some friends and just basically slid
it, but my wife called a Pool Table moving co, and they said it needs taken apart to be moved because you
could crack the slate. Does that sound reasonable? Then it will be re-felted and leveled.

pay someone to move it and put it back and level it.

I put a two foot 4x4 under one end in and use floor jack to raise up enough to get a 4 wheel furniture dolly from harbor freight and lower onto it and do same on other end and no pressure to move around. When I bought it in Athens we took it apart to move. I had a neighbor who used to move them for living to help me ith that move.

Table probably has 3 pieces of 1 inch slate laid lengthwise over support foundation beams. If you lay under it with a light you will most likely see plain old wood door shims that they use to level the slate and the slate seams on the support beams. To professionally move they un-screw all the bumpers, remove the felt and lift off the slate pieces. As yours is flat in the garage and you will be moving it (carefully sliding it) w/o twisting or tilting the legs or bed, most likely the shims under the slate will not be disturbed. Worst case it won't be level (can be fixed by shimming the leg(s), or even worse a seem bumps up in the felt due to the slate seam shims moving. The shims are just wedged in there not glued. If you have OCD you can take pictures of the shims, or mark then with a sharpie to see if any of them move during the table slide. Mine was moved (slid and lifted a bit) by the carpet installers w/o any damage done.
