I'm running an MRO HD. Decent red dot, small enough, and I had an extra laying around, so on the Mp5 it went.

Aimpoint micros and Comp m5 would also be high on the list. Or maybe try a MRDS with closed emitter such as a Steiner MPS or Trijicon RCR if you want an even smaller foortprint.

I wouldn't try to to Co-witness, the iron sights are super lower.

And any dot that could co-witness I feel like with be to small and the front sight would take up most of the view.

I prefer MRO on most of mine...

Agreed. I don't want the sights of the mp5 muddy'n the target.

Can always run a quality QD mount and remove the optic if needed. That said, the MP5 is a range toy for me. Optic goes down for whatever reason, I don't really care. My life ain't on the line.
