My Favorite Deer Calibers

Even a 30-06 is overkill. A .223 will kill a deer dead! With proper ammo and you hit where every hunter should hit the deer. I would think removing the rear 3/4 of the dear with some of these Kodiak killers would be counter productive.

I don’t like looking for deer so...

The 45-70, .444, .450, even .44 Mag blow thru the deer making a bigger hole & dumping more energy on the way thru.

Being a good Kodiak Killer does not necessarily make a caliber or cartridge a poor whitetail Killer.

I’ve had near 100% bang flop with an old plain vanilla .270 Winchester.

I believe my .260 Remington will Be just as efficient.

Depends on where I'm hunting , cover, terrain, distances, and if there's other game like hogs or bear.

The primary calibers:
300WSM (old faithful)
50 Beowulf
6.5-300 Weatherby
338-378 Weatherby
300 Blackout

Backup:
10mm
500 S&W

Standby calibers:
30-378 Weatherby
264 Win mag
338 Win mag
458 Win mag
257 Weatherby

I know it's a bit much, but I don't want anything to run and have a dozen other people shooting at my animal since I'm usually on WMA'S. Also I'm a fatass and don't want to drag any farther than necessary.:thumb:
