My first attempt at polishing

Since the finish is gone, what about rust?

The finish was so worn that it had to be kept clean and oiled anyway

Thank you. Looks Like a good product. Everything I have read says that I can actually expect less rust with a good polished finish but I am a little skeptical of that... On the other hand my antique pistols had their nickel plating wear off more than a hundred years ago and there is almost 0 rust on them.

Ill be the first to say it ... I dont care for it. I prefer the worn looking one. But with that said my opinion matters as much as what I paid to type this response. NOTHING

I like it!! I picked up a 1911 that's in pretty rough shape and have been thinking about polishing it up to a shine.

PopsBwell that looks realy good. While I like the "worn" look, I have to admit that your gun now has much more "curb appeal" than it did before. Nice work.
