Need help- knocking noise coming from Engine

2006 Chrysler Towne and Country - has been a great car for us. 160k miles

Today after and hour of driving.... a slight knocking strands coming from the engine. It gradually got louder and louder. Then the air conditioner stopped blowing all together. I turned off the A/c and it took a few second but eventually the knocking stopped.

Drive the car later and the exact same thing happened...everything normal, knocking started and when I turned the a/c off the knocking stopped. The knocking seemed to make her the rpm’s o f the engine- the higher the rpm- the faster and louder the knocking

Good quess, it has something to do with the belt system, the fact the compressor quits pumping, tend to lean in that direction. If your willing to put in $800 plus for a correct replacement, comp,drier, h valve with evac & recharge.


Or just a compressor, with evac. Most real techs won’t do that cause there is zero warranty for the vendors
