I'll add Hornady pretty much sucks. They introduce new cartridges and then don't deliver on ammo or brass. The 6.5 PRC is a perfect example of profit over customer, same as the 7PRC.

Lack of available brass put me off 300 PRC..... for now.

Another good option is a 7 mm Magnum.

Since OP has already decided, I will add. I wonder about certain hunting cartridges dying out. 7mm rem mag is surprising to me. Seems like it was viewed as “ideal” out West for some time. Now, looks like it’s going away.

It was still the schnizzle in '92 when I settled for a .270 Sendero. Really wanted that 7mm RemMag.

Never found 300 PRC ammo for sale in any store, including hunting only stores. 300 Win Mag, however.....

There are long action, non-Magnum calibers, like the .270, that will shoot as flat as the .300WM out to certain distances, but they won’t do it with the same weight of bullet, SD, and energy transfer that the .300WinMag will.

I know a guy that shoots Elks with 150 grain bullets all day long. They don't get more than 10 or 20 ft. Of course this guy shot placement is spot on every time.
