If its a small slice, the easiest thing would be to legally sell them just a sliver of that. Document the lines very well, and maybe put up a fence where your line is now to avoid any future confusion.

Best to keep neighbors friends if possible and work out a solution.

This is exactly right, Im no attorney but I do know if you don't address it your land can become his land. Talk to an attorney and don't wait around.
