I will throw this in, even if he went with a g 17, he'd still have to get the extended barrel..
Shorter slide of the 19 has less mass than a 17 slide. Add the weight of the optic to the weight of a 19 slide and its probably close to that of a 17.
plus the barrel has to be extended. Obviously his 19 is both an edc and a suppressor.host. For edc he can easily put the factory barrel and factory mags in, and for play, reinstall the goodies.. May have been simply for pics..
Didn't look close enough to notice the thread protector. Still, it almost looks like a threaded barrel for a G17 anyhow. Understood about the extra mass of the slide but a G17 is still light weight as is, and you pick up a bit of sight radius. To each his own, I suppose.
The mag release has already been changed. I hate the extended one. That gun came with it.
As to why not my g17? Well I thought about it but I like my g19 better. Smaller frame and with the threaded barrel it has a similar barrel length to that of the g17. For my purposes that's the best of both worlds
