New laws, anyone?

Consider....there were mentally ill people in 1776, indeed, for all of modern civilization mental health has been recognized. The founding fathers could have added a mental health limitation to the Second Amendment, but they thought that the citizens would be smart enough to not make that necessary. Sadly, they were wrong as to the depths of stupidity and lack of common sense the USA has slipped to in the 21st Century.
did they treat these mentally ill people with drugs at that time?

Um, Walmart... in Texas. Not a gun free zone. Not even close.

Actually, very much a gun free zone.

This Walmart was in the Cielo Vista Mall, which is signed as a gun-free zone. Unlike GA, in Texas a gun-free zone has the weight of law (the code section is 30-06), and being found in one even with a legal carry gun can result in a misdemeanor that could lose you your gun rights.

However, even if it wasn't a gun-free zone that hardly makes a difference. As mentioned, Dr. Lott puts it at 94% so if a couple take place in places that aren't covered you are probably just talking about the few that used to happen even before the GFZ laws started getting pushed through in the 80s and 90s.

And being a GFZ 9or not doesn't change the fact that we simply can't predict who is and isn't a risk. All a non-GFZ does is create a deterrent. There's been people who've tried to shoot up police stations, so even getting rid of gun free zones won't guarantee that the problem goes away.
