New to the red dot optics game...

then there's clearly no way you can miss and a red dot seems like overkill with this new info...
All this tells me is you have zero need for magnification. Basic red dot is going to be like looking through an LPVO.

It's just an enclosed RMR, no different than any Aimpoint/steiner or rifle red dot. Since the ACRO mailbox came out guys love touting how it's more tactically sound and won't get dirt in front of the emitter etc, but I've rocked a regular RMR working in the woods for years and most I've ever had to do was wipe the lint off mine once every few weeks in peak season.
This is carried iwb. YMMV.
Recommendations? Steiner, Trijicon, Acro, Aimpoint?
I have the 507K on my 43X and I've been pleased with it. Holosun also makes the EPS carry if you want the enclosed.
I have a couple Steiner MPS and I love em.
Do you, by any chance, have an optic ready VP9? If so, I have a Holosun SCS VP9 that will attach right to your slide. You're welcome to it... It'll let you know if red dots are for you... but this ones green. Should be better with your eyes.
That's the exact optic I ordered for my FN reflex yesterday, can't wait to try it out. Now I would like to try an enclose emitter type on my FN 509 compact tactical...
