Optics Larue AR10?

My bud got him a nice Larue AR in 308.

I know there are an awful lot of optics around, but I'm wondering what sort of stuff works good on something like this.

I am thinking that it needs to be something longer range than most red dots, but maybe not so powerful that the heat mirage will cause problems.

I have a Burris XTR for my .308 only $7-900 and crisp. Closer I would go .308 ACOG.

A Nightforce 2.5-10x42 might do the trick.

Probably wants to set up for a couple hundred yards. I would think that most any magnification appropriate for 400 or more yards would be high enough to cause real heat mirage troubles.

If you stay below 10-12x it's not terrible for rifle induced mirage. Also, it depends if you're running a can and it's got a shield.

For atmospherics, if he's got a nice piece of glass you can stretch things up to 16-20x.

Now does the Can equate to this??
