A south Forsyth energy business is holding a disaster preparedness event for the public on Saturday. Prep Fest 2012 is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Solar Energy USA, 7565 Industrial Court, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Andrea Brown, a spokeswoman for the company, said the free event is being held in response to the Center for Disease Controlâs National Preparedness Month in September. âAnd due to recent natural events [in other states], leaving all without power and supplies, we find a need and want to help share information on how to prepare for such things,â Brown said. She said the event will feature a range of vendors with information on topics such as emergency food and power systems, solar energy with battery backups, first aid, water reclamation and home defense. âThere is no presentation or agendas,â she said. âIt is just a place to come and discuss topics openly.â Solar Energy will also provide free hot dogs, chips and beverages, Brown said. In order to provide enough food, she said those interested in attending should R.S.V.P. to the office by 5 p.m. Friday. She said about 75 people have signed up so far, but sheâs hoping for âa ton more.â âWe want as many people as possible to come and ask questions and learn about disaster preparation for their homes and families,â she said.
