Rat bastard squirrels and a Moultrie feeder

Well it took @ 9 months but the squirrels did this!


So I plan to bolt this metal trash can lid to the top of the feeder lid. ANy other ideas ? I did put a varmint guard around the dispenser lots of little muddy hand prints on bottom but they cannot quite get to if.

Put a little fine red pepper in there and they won't touch it. Of course, the deer might not either.

I brought the feeder home to repair and redeploy

I had trail cam pics of a fox squirrel chewing a hole through the lid of one exactly like yours, then climb into the hopper to help himself. Actually though, that didn't happen until I attached a wire varmint guard around the motor/spinner plate. Guess that pissed him off, so he said "I'll show you"! I tried patching the holes with multiple layers of duct tape but that just made him more angry! I had to remove the Moultrie and replace it with an all metal Game Winner model with a gravity feed tube. Now all the critters are fat and happy!

If you remove the varmint guard they will stop chewing on it, but that's about your only option beside an eradication plan..........
