Removing this tree to make room for another tree...

Can i get away with throwing a chain around this and driving my truck to pull it out of the ground? The tree is ugly and takes up a lot of space. I'd like to replace it with something that my daughter will be able to climb as she grows.
Or am I better off just to cut it down, level it with the ground, and planting another tree somewhere nearby? Thanks

Pull it out? NO. cut it down,Yes,then dig stump out and pull it with said truck. OR have a party and we will watch you hook truck to it and PLAY.With lots of advice and encouragement.

Hmmm. My truck is a 4x4 tundra and it would be on pavement. Does that change anything?

Get a running start with about 50' of slack. That ought to snatch it out with enough force for it to go airborne and clear your truck.

Tie a couple of straps around it to hold all the branches together and hit it with a chainsaw or power pruner near the bottom. Much less messy. If you want to plant in the same place you’ll need to rent/hire a stump grinder, or elbow grease to get the stump out.

You could also dig a trench around the base of the tree and rock the stump back and forth with the shovel. When you’ve lossened it up a bit, the truck will finish the job.
