Replace a transmission on 8 year old Yukon for $5800?

Thx all. my fear is sinking big money in now and then the AC or engine follows suit. Or both.
My feeling is that once you start down that road, the next major failure I’d say, ‘well, I already spent XX dollars, don’t want that to be wasted, let’s do it’. Then you’re several thousand in on a vehicle not worth that, and waiting on the next major fail.
Unless there was some special memory associated with it, I’d bail.
But as I always say, if you want to do the correct thing, watch what I do and do the opposite.

Very true. Just wondering if this is the first domino to fall.
You never know, sometimes “trading in” is not “trading up”…that hunk of junk today maybe a classic tomorrow.

04 silverado,... 225k , no problems other than normal wear items and a alternator. Still running strong, just got back from a Illinois hunting trip with it pulling the trailer and utv behind it. Wouldnt trade it for 2 fords and a ram!!!
and 5800 sounds way to high

It's hard to beat a 2000-2006 Chevy truck they started having issues when they went to the 6 speed automatic transmission and the feature of dropping cylinders for highway mileage.
