Revolver gunsmith recommendations.

Can anyone suggest a good gunsmith for an old S&W I acquired. Preferably in the Athens area. Gun seems to be in great shape except for one thing. Prior owner used some sort of grease or lube that turned into a sticky mess everywhere on this thing.

Just needs a complete cleaning I think.

put metal parts in lacquer thinner, does not hurt the finish

I've done many of these and am not a gunsmith.
Post the model number and I probably have reference material you can use to do this yourself.

usually it is just 3 screws. make sure you use a good screwdriver that fits the screws. watch a youtube vid of cleaning up a smith revolver.

A good soak (2-3 days) in Hoppes #9 usually does

Yes, with hollow ground tips please, as precisely fitted to the slot as possible.

Take all the wood off it, and soak it in mineral spirits over night, it will clean it right up
