Ruger 10/22 scope recommendations

The folks over at Rimfirecentral.com have a lot of good things to say about .22 rimfire scopes, although they generally don't shoot them past 100 yards.

All I can say is that I find 4X magnification good enough out to 100 yards, but 6X is better at 100. I have no desire to go higher, even on my scopes that go up to 9x or 12x. BUT, I will sometimes crank them up that high to try to spot the bullet holes in the white.

I can never see .22 bullet holes in the black with any of my rifle scopes, but with a 60mm lens 15x-60x spotting scope, I can see the holes in the black at 100 yards, but not at 200.

The Nikon Rimfire Prostaff Target EFR is one of the best rimfire scopes IMHO. not very expensive (on sale a lot) and very good optics. i've got two of them, and very happy with them.

adjustable parallax to very close distances, 1/4" at 50 yard clicks, etc. The glass is better than the other nikon rimfire scopes (friend that used to work for Nikon had told me that). But for me it's a solid choice.

It's about $180 but I have found them on sale quite a few times (even on the Nikon site) and when I found a really good deal bought an extra one just in case.

I wouldn't recommend this brand for something other than a 22, but my BSA Sweet 22 6-18x40 is a pretty sweet scope with a lot of features for cheap scope. It's heavy though, I enjoy it on a bolt action, I don't think it'd be as much fun off hand or with a 10/22.
