Ruger AC 556 (Semi, 3 rd burst, full auto switch) pros and cons

For those that own or have owned the Ruger AC 556, what are your likes or dislikes?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Likes :

It’s auto , it works and the A team used it and it’s transferable so you cannot lose money .

Dislikes :

Mags cost too much, ammo costs too much and goes too fast and it’s ****in loud if you get the K model .


All in all you cannot lose money with transferables unless you are stupid

Oh and the .22 conversion is just pure sex . So much fun.

I bought new 13.5 in barrel version and really liked it ,bought a criener22 conversion for it and it worked flawlessly! Sold it about 18 years ago and really hated that I got rid of it!

I worked for a shop that owned one and was able to shoot it on several occasion.
It was the folding stock with about a 12” barrel.
It was very reliable. More reliable than the colt m16s of the day. The 3 round burst does not reset is the only annoying characteristic that I remember.

honestly knowing ruger it wouldnt surprise me one bit if they would still fix it

I just got mine out of jail. I love it but my 3 round is finicky and prob needs a gunsmith. It is very LOUD.

i have a ciener kit but have not tried it out yet

Buddys shop owns a factory post sample and the selector switch can be a royal PIA sometime and will get stuck for no reason effectively jamming the gun. Other than that it runs like a scalded dog
