You prefer aluminum over steel frame? Curious as to why; will this be a daily carry or is there a different reason?
It will probably make it into the EDC rotation, so you're exactly right. Even a fully loaded lightweight 1911 isn't light when you're carrying it on your hip all day.
I'm trying to remember what I did to my last SR1911 to lighten it up, I remember changing out the mainspring housing and I think I changed out the guide rod. I just remember it was significantly lighter, but I have to find my old pics to see what jogs my memory
