So, if the Saints used their 4 new plays to move slow and run out the clock, the game would end with a 20-20 tie and go into OT? (Like it did anyway, but as a 23-23 tie)?

OH WAIT... you mean the Saints could waste time until the clock only had like 20 seconds left and THEN do that field goal, giving the other team too little time to do anything other than a single Hail Mary play?

Yes. They would have run the clock out kicked the field goal and left the Rams with no time to do anything barring a miracle.

They got legitimately screwed in that regard but it is part of the game and they had two chances to still win.

I'd like to see something added that mimics the same set of rules coaches have for challenging a potentially bad call but apply it to no calls. That would help regulate/limit the number of times the coaches could dispute a theoretical no call but also provide them the opportunity to have something like the play in question reviewed. Just my $0.02.
