Long story short, have a rifle on an approved form 1. Decided that I do not wanna chop the barrel.

What’s the process for removal from the registry? I’m reading you send a letter to the ATF advising “void and refund” and they will void and send back your $200.00. Not sure how accurate that is.

Once a Form is approved, there are no refunds. If you would have requested it to be canceled before the Form was approved, you would have been able to request the refund of the Tax Stamp.
You can still have it removed from the NFA Registry and you have the firearm returned into its non-nfa conditions.

If you plan to keep, leave it as an SBR but not chop because you may change your mind again and decide to chop
and if you are gonna sell it, unregister it and save documentation

I think I’m going to sell n
Simple, just send them a letter stating you never made it into an SBR and you want to change it's status in the registry. No refund, also they aren't gonna remove it in the registry they'll just change its status as a rifle and you can do as you please with it.

If it shows up in a crime you'll be the first to find out.
