SBR removal from NFA

I was told by an ATF agent long ago that once it's done it's done. Same with converting to full auto. Once it's approved you can convert it back to semi on your end but on their end it'll always be full auto.
For dealer post samples and transferable machine guns this is true but the gun can be destroyed and rebuilt into a semi firearm. Which is how all of my belt fed semi autos are made. But sbrs can be reversed. I have had multiple people buy an SBR and have it sent to me, I'll weld on an extension and have it "removed" from the registry and then they just do a normal 4473. Some SBR it again later others leave it as a rifle.
