School me on moving/furniture storage

Make sure the furniture is worth more than the storage fees. Storage ain't cheap.
My boss started building a house right at the start of Covid. Nevermind the huge jump in building materials. But he sold his existing house and had to move in with in laws and store his stuff. He waited and searched for about a month to find an open unit. And there are storage unit around every corner in Houston Co. I had no idea that was such a booming industry. But just watch a few videos on Public Storage which is the biggest player in the industry and you'll see. I ain't a stock market guy but I seriously looked at buying Public Storage stocks.
Anyway...if you're not too far from bensskateshop bensskateshop in Villa Ricca he might be able to hook you up.

After getting a couple of quotes (and we've boxed up most of the "stuff") we have twin 19 year old boys in good shape and they have friends who like money.

So we're toying with the idea of having the pros move our furniture and renting a truck/storage space and having a move party using sons and their friends. Hybrid concept maybe?

That’s how we’re doing it. Toting boxes ourselves, getting the movers to move the heavy stuff. Getting a donation shelter to come pickup everything we can.

I am a storage facility owner (a shytbird)hahahaha.
This is great advice. Climate control is a must if you have decent furniture. Try to avoid storing mattresses if possible.

NEVER buy uhaul insurance or any industry specific policy. They are self insured and written to never pay out more than $500. Use your homeowners or renters insurance, it's cheap and they will actually pay. Photo document everything as the unit is being packed and use a reputable company with good reputation.

All of the units I have to auction off (except for in the case of death) are filled with broken wallmart ****, nasty clothing, porn, weed paraphernalia and gas cans with no lids. Not worth a months fees much less the several they have already paid.
It IS funny the kinda **** people will pay storage fees for ain't it? That's one of many reasons I told everyone years ago that Storage Wars was bull**** from the beginning. Those folks would get pissed when stoves washers, dryers and fridges were in the units they won. But damn those are the only things with any value at all.

I really wanna buy a house/double wide outside of Houston Co but I really dread moving. We have recently passed what you'd call prepping and we're almost into the hoarder class.

There are moving companies that will quote you a price and then hold your stuff for more money. Had it happen to a tenant and a neighbor. Getting a referral like you just got is a good idea.
A company took advantage of my mom around Christmas. Find out if the company you hire is the actual company that does the moving or a broker. If a broker once you sign a contract they forget who you are and will hold your stuff hostage until you pay an inflated rate.

This is the way to do it. If I could go back and move my mom I would have hired college guys on each end of the move. Heck crack heads on each end may have need a better idea
