Silly car dealer games....

I looked at a really nice Ford Lariat 4 by 4 white gold with the camel interior last night at Butler in Milledgeville. Sticker price $59,000. Ouch.
I worked there in 06. They were typical for the bidness but nowhere near as bad as Five Star or Jeff Smith. I've never spent much time around Marshal Butler but his son Marsh ran the Toyota lot on Eisenhower when I started in the car bidness in 94. He helped me out a lot when I knew next to nothing about the bidness.

I don’t think I will ever buy a car from a dealership again. We bought my wife’s 12 passenger Chevy van from a dealership and it has served us really well. I don’t want to get rid of it, I wasn’t looking for another vehicle. The dealership we bought it from began aggressively reaching out to me with mail and emails and calls with offers of buying back my van and “putting us in a newer model” “for the same monthly price”. Back then, the amount that we were paying was what I was comfortable with and I was not willing to pay one penny more per month. I explained this in email and over the phone to the dealership and was assured repeatedly that I could trade in my van and get a newer van for the exact same monthly payment. I repeated this requirement when I sat down and told him that if the payment worked out to one penny more he would have wasted his time and my time and that I was not going to be happy. I was promised again that it would be EXACTLY the same. So we went out to test drive the van I was interested in. It was another 12 passenger but when we got to it, the entire rear seat was missing... he was going to “look into it”. I get in the van and the tire pressure light was on. He tells me it’s fine, don’t worry about it. I drove it to the shop in the back of the dealership and told him to get the tires checked. It turns out they put load range C tires on a 3/4 ton van that needs load range E tires. Since you cannot fill those tires to the pressures used by load range E tires the sensor was triggered. I drove it around the dealership but said that I was not willing to drive the van at speed with the wrong tires. I was promised it would be taken care of. Then we go back inside and he looks into he missing back seat that had been in all the pictures. He comes back and says that the seat doesn’t go with he van because it was an aftermarket addition and not done by he factory. It was a factory seat and the van had the factory installed seatbelts for that seat. Here is he kicker - after all that, he goes to his sales manager and comes back with my price...
$300 MORE PER MONTH!!!!!
I walked out and have never set foot in a dealership again.

I need to take some of you guys that love the process with me the next time I buy a vehicle. I freakin' *HATE* playing the game with the typical salesmen and their managers. By the time the process is over, what should be an exciting and fun time getting a new car, I'm so pissed off, it's not enjoyable.

This has typically been my experience. After 3 hours I’m ready to snap some necks. But then again, if you let the process take 3 hours, it will. I’m a respectful jerk when I go in. Dig my heels in and don’t budge. My opinion, if I’m not being escorted out the front door, they still want my business and I haven’t offended anyone enough to worry about it.

Trophy Ford in Forsyth seems to have good internet prices. Smaller inventory but they seem to have some really interesting stuff. $107K Shelby truck and an $80K Mustang. I bought my Mustang from Jeff Smith but I really wanted to give Trophy a try...I've just never been up that way when they were open lol...

I live in Forsyth County and never heard of it. Turns out its Forsyth Ga. Lol

Shattenkirk on the North side always has cool stuff, especially Roush trucks.
