Skillet Burgers

I enjoy a burger cooked on the grill, but there is something about 1 cooked in a cast iron skillet. I slice sweet onions and put them under 1 side of the meat while it cooks. The other side gets a crunchy crust on it.

Maybe it's because my grandmother cooked them this way.View attachment 1882759

It's the grease. No hamburger tastes as good without the grease.
 
63 years old and my mom cooked them that way all the time when I was growing up. I like to add gravy and mushrooms with the onions.

No need to add gravy...just set the burgers aside then add a few tablespoons of flour to the grease. Stir it into a good roux and then add cereal bowl of half milk half water. Stir and thicken a few minutes and put the burgers back in...
