So, what trigger do you have in your AR's?

It really depends on what you're doing with the rifle.
I have a precision lower that I have the Geissele SSA in that is all I'll ever need. The rest of my lowers have PSA, Daniel Defense, or the ALG parts kits and they each work fine.

I currently own a Geiselle super dynamic 3 gun and a SSA. I've previously owned a rifle with a jard 3 lbs single stage.

It all depends on the intended use. The SD3G is great for fast shooting at close to mid range but I wouldn't recommend for long range bench shooting or for duty work. It is just way too light. Mag dumps are fun, though!

The SSA is on my deer hunting setup and is a great 2-stage. It took me a bit of practice before I got comfortable with where the second stage breaks.

The jard was ok...nothing special. I probably wouldn't buy that one again although I had no issues with it.

Guys, thank you so much! I am still considering but you have helped narrow it down a bit. I'm most likely going single stage and I like a short, crisp reset... but I'm also budget minded :)

Any arguments for or against your choices?
If you're going single stage, I'd agree with several here who have recommended the ALG. At $65, it's a bargain for what you get. I like the SSA as well. From what I can tell, I think those are the two most recommended in this thread.

Geissele SSA - it's fantastic. They don't recommend anything lighter (such as the SSA-E) for defensive weapons.
I was going to go SSA-E, but I found this recommendation as well. So the SSA went in the first one and the E going to go in another that's more of a Varmint/target shooter. I don't have the E yet, so I can't make a comparison.

Take your mil spec and send it to this guy. You will be very pleased.

Please, for the love of Eugene Stoner, don't do this. Ever heard of Bill Springfield? Google is your friend. Unless you want a potentially illegal, uncontrollable, full auto AR, don't go screwing around with the hardened sear surfaces of the standard USGI trigger. Especially when you can buy an ALG trigger for a very reasonable price.

Enter "Bill Springfield" into a Google search - top results:

Yep. Bill's work is very good, and fast turnaround-- like back in your hands in 7-10 days. This is the best deal going; about $45 last time I checked.

However... the $225 Geisselle is better. As is the $300 AR Gold. But lots more expensive, and for most people, not worth the price difference. I cannot speak to the performance of Timney and so on.

There are mixed reports about Bill's work the last few years. My experience has been positive. Yours may not be-- as others have stated, do your research. But for what it's worth-- all my friends get him to work over their AR triggers.
