So who all rides motorcycles?????

I don't doubt the MPH claims, even 600s should be able to attain 160+ given enough room.

Since it's cause some contention, I was referring to 100MPH wheelies without serious mods. You do see videos, showing the speedo at 100+ but what you don't see is the gearing. Wheelies are the result of too low of an RPM and applying power. 100+ in itself requires a high RPM and gear.
My Busa has a bone stock motor and length, with some minor gearing and I've lost enough weight that is comparable to a 1000 maybe even lighter. Took 20lbs off the front end alone.

No way it's coming up at 100mph.
Well guys, Sorry you're calling me a liar, but I was there, you weren't. The needle was past 180 on the speedo. I don't know how fast I was actually going because speedo's vary in their accuracy, but one thing I DO know is I don't lie, exaggerate, or just make **** up....

Well, I may exaggerate a little now and then...a little...
I bought the bike new with 1900 miles on it. It was yamaha's poster bike out in California. Already had the full GYTR package on it, so I don't know if it was(is) hopped up any or not.

I don't doubt that the speedo said 180. But I also had the newer, faster gen 2 FZ1 with exhaust, CAT removal, Tuning, 520 conversion, Traxxion AK20 forks, Penske 8983 shock, upgraded rotors and lines, and a 20lbs weight reduction and the top speed wasn't more than mid 160's...

Stock speedo is off 8-10% on average, so 180 indicated can be off almost 20mph...

OK what's the point? I don't care anything about mountain riding. Standing 1/8 1/4 and 1miles interest me and I speak of that almost exclusively. If I wanted to do the twisties I would likely have a 1K Suzuki, BMW or Honda.
Or of course riding my hot rod Harley is a lot of fun, but I still rarely power into the turns where I have to lay it sideways. Insane high speeds is what I know.

I think that the point he was making, is that straight lines are for fast bikes. Corners are for fast riders...

The Busa is also quite a bit longer wheelbase than an 1198. By a couple inches.

And unless you managed to take off 75lbs or so, maybe more, you aren't down into that weight class.

If you remove crap from the literbikes, their weight goes down too. I had mine on a scale and it was in at 428lbs wet. With 162/92 at the wheel, that's a pretty stout package.

The Busa will beat it at the drag strip because it is long, low and heavy and you can more easily put that power down without flipping the thing onto it's back like a turtle... LOL

Not in any way taking away from your or the Busa's achievements. It's certain a very capable bike.

But to say that a literbike, especially a 1200cc torque monster like an 1198 won't pull the wheel up over 100mph on it's own, is very naive of you. It can, and does...

At Brew-N-Q in Cartersville Great day for a Ride

Just under 300 miles round trip today. The picture next to the 79 FLH and this one at the top of fort mountain are all I took.

Went up and rode the Ocoee river canyon too. Too many damn cars today.

By the way, they were up there putting fresh tar snakes down on 52 over fort mountain. That road won't be worth riding for a while. It was slick as snot.

Even at factory your Busa has a much larger wheel base than most of the Vtwin supersports, and the torque on the twins is much more proficient at lofting the front wheel than the 4cylinders are

Exactly. The busa is designed for 1/4 mile and high speed stability.

Bikes like the 1198 are designed to win world super bike championships. That means short for turning, light, etc... and the power delivery on a 160+hp vtwin is very different than the silky smooth inline 4 bikes. It's like a light switch. The throttle has an off position, and a hold crap I am in a tree setting.

I eventually got rid of it for a Tuono 1000r Factory because it was fun in some ways and not fun in others. As a streetbike it was just too temperamental. It took a lot of concentration to keep it inline and you could never relax on it...

Wanted to also point out that both my ZX7R and my FZ1 do 100+ in second gear.
