Starting a bolt trick

Saw this a while back. Doesn't this weaken the bolt if under any type of stress?

I definitely wouldn't want to try that trick in a vulnerable area, say like a alternator or any type machinery that vibration is a factor.

Loctite is useless once you’ve compromised the integrity of the bolt. I’d be curious to verify yield via bolt stretch once that has been done. You effectively place all the stress on the remaining threads, and less surface area tension is a real cause for concern. This said in regards to any area of importance, but on a vehicle where essentially everything is subject to vibration I would be extra cautious.
