steyr m96 1896 6.5 info

just picked up a steyr m 96 1896 model rifle here from a member. Barrel blueing is great and action is smooth it seems to have been sporterized maybe as it has a stock that is shorter than pics ive seen,looks to be a mauser style action with a box mag that takes a special ammo clip,any one have any of these clips for 6.5x53 round and any info would be appreciated and possible value as i got a great deal on it ..I think?

No problem, I haven't had the chance to shoot one of these in the original caliber but I have shot three separate ones that were rechambered for .303, apparently that was a common practice.

Variety is the spice of life....I have a few rifles I've never fired due to age and lack of available ammo. Mostly older French and Swiss rifles. It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I can't justify $5+ every time I pull the trigger. I'll keep an eye out for some ammo for you.
