The Official ODT Bourbon Club

I've kinda slowed down on buying new stuff to try so haven't posted here in a while. Finally acquired enough new stuff to be worth another post.

Huge fan of the Bib & Tucker Double Char, so been wanting to try their 10 yr aged stuff for a while. It's decent, but I much prefer the double char.

Went really far out on a limb trying the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye considering I loathe regular JD. It's great, but pretty hot at 133 proof. That led to buying the regular SB Rye which I like as well, but I think the flavor is better on the Barrel Proof one. The only reason I was even willing to step out on that limb is that someone gave me a sample of JD Sinatra Select which was delicious, but I wouldn't pay $150/bottle for it.

The New Riff 8yr is ok, hoping it gets better after a couple weeks. I finished a bottle of their Bottled in Bond and I liked it a lot more toward the last half of the bottle than I did through the first half of it. Even if it does get better, I will probably never buy another New Riff product.

I tried the Old Pepper Rye because I really liked the bourbon. It's good, but a little more rye spice than I would like. I'm hoping the spice will mellow a bit after being open a while.

The Ragged Branch Double Oaked was something I had never run across but kept seeing positive reviews online. They were wrong. It's trash. Smells like soured tea and tastes even worse. By far the worst "double oaked" anything I've ever tasted and I've loved most of the double oak stuff I've tried. I'm probably dumping this one down the drain.

Thanks for the heads up on those

The JD SB ryes are great! I haven’t had an Old Pepper in a while but I enjoyed. I like a spicy rye though. I’m with you on the New Riff. Never had one that did anything for me. Everyone just seems to lack character and drink flat.

I need sell some Vintage unopened Bourbon. Some of it is right at 30 years older than the label. I cant seem to find a way or a person to market it to. Any help from you experts would be great. The Old Whiskey River is from the early 90's. I think. Thanks, Dj

So it's gonna be hard bc technically it's against the law.
Definitely can't do it on here as one Mod as stated.
My suggestion is get on Facebook and try to join some private groups of whiskey collectors in GA. That might be a good start?

I'm just guessing as I don't do any secondary market stuff

Ok. Thanks, I wasnt trying to sell it on here. I am not on Facebook. I was looking for a name or a link/website. The ones I have found are not very helpful. Somebody ,somewhere, wants 25 and 30 year old Bourbon ! Lol

Unicorn Auctions or go to Kentucky where it's legal for a shop to buy vintage whiskey (vintage being anything not currently being distributed). Call Revival Vintage Bottle Shop or Justin's House of Bourbon maybe.

Just fyi, not sure how much you know about those bottles but they are mid-90s - early 2000s. So worth some money but you're not going to buy a nice car from them.

Shoutout to jstegman1 jstegman1 for recommending Charlie II's in Woodstock.

Stopped by this afternoon around 1 and Eric asked me what I was looking for and guided me to Baby Janes.

Had a tasting of Maker's single barrel and the Baby Janes and the smoothness is nice.

I think it was around 52 bucks and they do offer a discount for using cash.

Wow, nicest liquor store I've ever been to as far as service goes. It definitely pays to visit when they're not busy.
