I've kinda slowed down on buying new stuff to try so haven't posted here in a while. Finally acquired enough new stuff to be worth another post.
Huge fan of the Bib & Tucker Double Char, so been wanting to try their 10 yr aged stuff for a while. It's decent, but I much prefer the double char.
Went really far out on a limb trying the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye considering I loathe regular JD. It's great, but pretty hot at 133 proof. That led to buying the regular SB Rye which I like as well, but I think the flavor is better on the Barrel Proof one. The only reason I was even willing to step out on that limb is that someone gave me a sample of JD Sinatra Select which was delicious, but I wouldn't pay $150/bottle for it.
The New Riff 8yr is ok, hoping it gets better after a couple weeks. I finished a bottle of their Bottled in Bond and I liked it a lot more toward the last half of the bottle than I did through the first half of it. Even if it does get better, I will probably never buy another New Riff product.
I tried the Old Pepper Rye because I really liked the bourbon. It's good, but a little more rye spice than I would like. I'm hoping the spice will mellow a bit after being open a while.
The Ragged Branch Double Oaked was something I had never run across but kept seeing positive reviews online. They were wrong. It's trash. Smells like soured tea and tastes even worse. By far the worst "double oaked" anything I've ever tasted and I've loved most of the double oak stuff I've tried. I'm probably dumping this one down the drain.
