Thoughts on 26"+ AR "Firearms" like Franklin Armory

I'm wondering about the ODT's thoughts on 26"+ AR "Firearms" like Franklin Armory sells with a vertical grip. I've read a few threads on them innernets and it seems legit...
What about a lower bought as "other" on a 10.5" upper with a Thordson buffer that measures over 26" even without the flashhider screwed on...
THEY have an ATF letter...

Their ATF letter says it's ok to do over 26".

But the letter is addressed to them....so take that as you will. I personally doubt it would apply to you any different but do everything at your own risk.

You could always Form 1 it, kick an extra $200 and never worry about it that grey area. Than again, I understand those who don't want to "register" their stuff.
