Why do they put remote starters on new vehicles if it is harmful?
Besides ain't the motor that needs warming, it is my skinny butt.

Convenience and comfort.

Parking for too long is harmful in its own way. Everything deteriorates, just different ways. We were talking about excessive idling.

I was just telling Mrs roundhouse the other day that we didn't need a remote start
But a remote to turn on the seat heater would be nice

Get in and go. But l drive a company truck.


I can drive 40 miles in 30 minutes. So it's not necessarily more ware and tare. It's just ware and tare that can't be monitored or accounted for.

Sometimes I leave my company truck idling all day
Depends on the weather and the job
If I'm pulling water samples from wells and its 35 degrees , the truck stays running all day so I can warm up in between wells

Or if it's 99 in the summer it runs all day so I can hop in and cool off
