People who have been unemployed for 2-3 years don't NEED to work.
Not these people. Get interviews every so often but not hired. Maybe job market is better not but it's been really bad depending on the field.
Getting interviews doesn't mean anything. With the company I was working for before I had my own place, we were having a really hard time finding good manager candidates so we hired a company to assist us. They created an aptitude test for us based on results taken from our top performing managers, issued a personality profile, an integrity profile and conducted screening interviews sending us only the candidates that should have been the best fit. All this stuff worked really well, until I got to the final interview. One guy came in to the interview which was over an hour from where he lived and actually made a comment/complaint about how early he had to get up the be there for an interview at 9:00! Another guy started telling me procedural changes that we needed to make after having only seen the parking lot and the inside of my office. Another one was an hour and a half late and admitted that he over slept. This stuff happens every day. The one thing I realized all these people had in common was that they had all been unemployed for periods of 6 months or more. Some of them 2 years. These are people with college educations, decent resumes and good test scores yet have no idea how to function in the real world. If they were worth a damn and really wanted to work, they'd have been put to work by somebody, somewhere. If I found myself in need of a job today, I'd have one by Monday. Because if I went 3 months without one, you'd see my guns and stuff coming up for sale. In six months we'd be seriously downsizing homes and by the end of the year we'd be in the streets. If someone goes 2-3 years without employment it's only because they can. They'd rather be unemployed than be hot and sweaty punching a time clock in my body shop or bellying through crawlspaces forNot these people. Get interviews every so often but not hired. Maybe job market is better not but it's been really bad depending on the field.
You've been at your job longer than I've been alive, but I was taught old school too. I never missed a day of work without someone telling me "get your sick ass out of my face, go home, go to the doctor, go wherever you want, just not here!". I went wherever I was needed to go, did the jobs nobody else wanted to do, I moved to three different states before I was 21 and never took a damn paper clip that did't belong to me. I earned the trust of the people who mattered. I hated my job at times & thought about quitting a lot. But I hung in there and when the company got sold out, I got a real good deal on a piece of it because they wanted ME to have it. Now I can look back and truly know that my dedication paid off. Me and my family are reaping the benefits of my loyalty.Been at the same job 37 years and I am fixing to hang it up...I can honestly say that if I had been looking for a job for 2 or 3 years...That I would start flipping bur4gers picking up trash or whatever it took...but I would'nt be home sucking off goverments tit...and don't say awwwww they didn't do that, they did or will till it goes dry. I was taught OLD SCHOOL get out there and find something to do till you can do better.
