used, abused, triji ACOG's on ebay...where/how do folks get them?

I've had the same thoughts on AR mags. I guess that'd be less severe than an ACOG but I've decided not to buy some on a couple of occasions because it was obvious.

Magazines are "Class iX" expendable items and not tracked beyond Company level.

ACOGs on the other hand........buy the wrong one, get knock on the door.

So has anyone had anything actually confiscated??Sorry, I'm not trying to stir the pot, but I'm genuinely curious if they are just threatening action or actually show up to confiscate...... :noidea:
Yes. There have been many threads on Arfcom regarding DOD coming for their stolen optic.

Gotcha, but that seems to be more lucrative for them, being a large batch and all; I was more wondering about the one-off item sales and such.

They could. Would they? Who knows. The bigger question is why would you buy something that you have good reason to believe is stolen? These items are not sold as surplus, nor are they given to soldiers when they come home. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Add to that the fact that our tax dollars paid for it and certain Units are not getting the supplies they need in order to keep us safe... Well, I'd rather not have any part in that.

Like I said before in a previous post, I'm not advocating the resale of Govt property, just wondering if any ODT member has had experience with confiscation; So, is this just a matter of what people have "heard" or "read".....not actually experienced??? That's all :noidea:

When I was in the Navy, we had to turn items that wanted replaced and they were officially "destroyed and disposed of". I think that most of these items were improperly removed from military service and since they have a serial number, it will be your problem if you are found with it.

I don't see the need for a Trijicon myself. You can get a very good normal scope for way less and not have to worry if it stolen.

When I was in the Navy,

I don't see the need for a Trijicon myself.

When I put those two together............I laughed out loud.

I was once in an Air Force Chow Hall and the guy behind the chow line asked me "How do you want your eggs"? while I was standing there thinking "On my plate would work" his buddy laughed and said "He's a grunt, he will take them anyway we throw them" .

I admit I am proud to have served in the Infantry, but my life at the time would have been a lot less envious if I had never stepped foot on an Air Force or Navy base. There I found out that maybe "Wine and Whiskey Don't Matter To Me" was something I yelled more than believed

Thanks for the unintended humor, I am still laughing. I realize that most won't get it, but all the grads on the Benning School For Boys and that rival institution at Camp Lejeune will. My apologies for the Hijack OP.

VI no XI exist. :)

Hard and illegal to obtain when deployed.

VI* and there are always exceptions to policies. We would take our up armored toyota down to the German FOB and get a case of Becks (real beer not Non Alc) and when there is no exception that is when you get on amazon and order the home brew kit and have it shipped right to your hooch lol.

Yes they will come and confiscate the stolen govt property. It doesn't matter if it is a single Matech rear sight, an ACOG or a PEQ laser. I noted that last one because a good friend of mine bought a PEQ-2 laser, turned out to be stolen. He wasn't charged with anything but an Airforce OSI agent came and took it. The guy that sold it to my friend had been caught a few weeks before and during the investigation the OSI agents traced where the stolen items were sent. I have heard that a few years ago there was a big bust on stolen Surefire lights. A whole lot of people were out money when agents came and relived them of their newly acquired lights.

A word of caution to anyone buying one of these ACOGs either on EBay or on here (I have seen at least one of these pop up here already). Trijicon will not service that ACOG. Once an optic is DoD it remains DoD to them. So if the tritium goes out or the fiber optic cracks you are SOL.
