I've never done a review before but after today, I'm inspired.

CDNN has these for cheap.

I've never owned a Walther before so for less than 3 bills I thought, why the hell not. After bringing it home, I looked it over real good. My first impression is that it is a very well made pistol. The fit and finish is first rate and I can't find a tool mark or imperfection anywhere. The gun comes with two 16 round mags and a decent plastic box. This was a pleasant surprise to me. Most less expensive guns nowadays come in cardboard boxes and with one mag.

This Gun is big, bulky, and heavy. The slide is stupid thick but the bevel helps with that and gives the impression that the gun is slimmer than it is. This gun is perfect for the nightstand, or a truck, or for someone who doesn't give a damn about concealment. The grip is very comfortable and is the first gun I've ever owned that the finger grooves don't bother me. They are very small, almost non-existent, so this is probably why. The stippling looks nice and is very grippy.

The trigger is also first rate. I loved it almost instantly. The stuff I've read says that it is a 6.5lbs pull but is feels much lighter to me. When I loaded the first mag up, I got to my first complaint. When the mag is loaded, they rattle pretty significantly. When you put the mag into the gun and move the gun around some, it sounds like a peanut rattling in a can. No big deal, I guess, and functioning wasn't affected at all, it just bothers me some. Imma picky bastard, though.

I shot 150 rounds through it today. Function was 100% and accuracy is very good. The gun handles well and recoil is not much different, if any, than any other 9mm. Even though the bore is pretty high. Another significant complaint came up when shooting. The brass was hitting me on the top of my head, my face, and my chest. After I ran a couple of mags, I looked it up and saw where others had the same issue. I read that it improves after some shooting and someone else said that you had to have a firmer grip. I don't know, but my son didn't have the same problem and by the time I shot my last mag, the hulls had stopped hitting me.

Overall, I am very impressed. It is a well made, if not over engineered, piece of German craftsmanship. And the price cannot be beat. If they slimmed this gun down, and kept everything else the same, I think that Glock, HK, Sig Sauer, and S&W would be in serious trouble.

For you fellas that didn't read a word of this and just skipped to the porn, the target was shot from 15 yards. It's 15 rounds and it was the very first mag that I shot through the gun. Not bad, but I was aiming for her forehead.

Nice review.

I disagre with your conclusion that they can't be beat for the money. The Canik TP9SA/V2/SF all have better triggers, better ergonomics, better aesthetics, NATO spec barrel, and so on. The Sar B6P uses CZ mags, costs less, and is also less money. The Ruger SR9e is less than $300 as well, and the Tristar CZ clones are close in price as well. My problem with the PPX is that it's not really a Walther, it's an Umarex. It's cheaply designed and cheaply made (two piece barrel? Seriously?) It's not suited for +p, or +p+ ammo, and mags are proprietary and not readily available. And there has been talk about them being discontinued in 2017. It doesn't even come close to Walther's other guns in terms of quality, durability, and craftsmanship, like the P99, PPQ and PPS. You know what other gun is made at the same plant, and is junk? The CCP. Although at this point, the PPX is a better gun than the problematic CCP.

Not knocking your decision to own the firearm. You could have done much worse. But it's not a gun I would recommend over the others I mentioned.

Serious question, do you own this firearm? Or is this regurgitated from stuff you've read?

And the PPX is made by Walther, not Umarex. Only that one .22 is made by Umarex.

And your statement that the gun is cheaply made is unfounded. The gun is as well made as most guns I've seen costing twice.

I did own it, and yes, I do know what I'm talking about. The PPX is not made at the same plant the PPQ and P99 is. The barrel is not cold hammer forged, and it is made of two parts instead of one like most barrels. The polymer used is of less denser material than the PPQ. There are more markings than on other Walthers, and all these things were necessary to bring the price down. I own several Walthers actually.

Edit: I'm not trying to invalidate OP's opinion. If he likes it, great.

I like the ppx. I haven't owned one personally but the reviews are good. I think it's a good buy for the money. Cdnn always has them for a good price. They are 400 on buds.

I picked up the threaded version of the PPX earlier this year to shoot suppressed. I think I have about 500 rounds through it now with 0 issues. I checked the threads on both the Walther forums and several others before buying. The threads go back about 2 years, and for the most part it gets good reviews from users with the typical problems.

As for the comparison to the Canik, if I ever have problems with the PPX, and as someone who has dealt with both, I'll take Walther customer service over Century any day of the week. Plus the last time I checked, the Canik did not offer a threaded a version. YM of course MV...

Never had an issue with any of my Caniks or Walthers to where I had to send them in, but my guess is that Walther CS is infinitely better. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the faulty PPQ Navy SD they keep selling defective, and not addressing the issue with so many not cycling properly when suppressed. Instead they insist on sending you an upgraded spring kit instead that doesn't even solve the issue properly. But, my PPQ, P99, and PPS run great.

I liked the review and searched the internet found more that support PPX than not. The price in not an indicator of what quality is and what people like, especially during the Christmas season. Dang it, I did it again I meant to say happy holiday season(not).
