What do you eat for lunch.

I’ve got to commit to meal prep. For now I’m going to focus on eating cheaper rather than better. Eventually I have to eat better. My son just started back to school and has wanted spaghetti. We cook a big pot and put in containers and he eats that a couple of times a week along with what my wife calls Cajun chicken pasta.
I think I’m gonna start cooking veggies on the weekend and maybe a few meats.
Sandwiches seem like a good idea but it will require me to buy the stuff as Publix is 40+ mins a way.
A can of tuna and a couple of boiled eggs is also on the menu.

If you have a Publix...they always have a sub on special...I will get that sometimes, and eat 1/2 today, and 1/2 tomorrow...typically they are $7.99...so...4 bucks for lunch....no chips!!! too much fat!!! otherwise it's like you say $10-$12 for lunch...run that out a year it's around 3k.... a year, that's 1 week at the beach on a summer vaca....
One week!!! WOW......When we had a camper, we stayed on the water for @ $250 for a week. That was @ 20yrs ago, but still

I’m telling you, the breakfast prep has changed our lives. Sausage and egg biscuit, wrapped in parchment paper, inside a gallon zip lock. I have chickens, so the eggs are “free”. Roughly $.60 per biscuit and 45 minutes, including clean up.

Heck yes they are still open. 2 combos, fries and a tea is almost $9 now. A scramble dog
Is >$6. It’s more expensive that it used to be but still cheaper than a colon cleaner and still as effective

$2.95 would get you a scramble dog and drink back in the day………and enough gas to heat a small apartment.

You can eat better and cheaper. With a microwave you have so many options. I ate a cold lunch everyday for almost 50yrs while I was working. So now that I'm home I make it a point to eat a hot lunch everyday. I do get getting away for lunch. It's the only way to get some peace and quiet. I learned the value of a short nap at lunch time after my heart attack. Embrace it. You can have almost anything. You can pick up sandwiches for the week or make your own at home. You can eat left overs by making extra for dinners during the week. That's what I do a lot. You could pick up cold cuts and make some great sandwiches. Grill dogs or meat and have lunches for the week. Pick up or get a frozen pizza for several meals. Make a large salad and have some everyday. Make a homemade soup. Have soup out of a can or other convenience meals. You'll save lots of money and eat better too

QT roller dog and chips and water. Still 6-7 bucks. They bust your ass on the chips. I always want chips with my lunch.
Wife and I went to Panera Bread just this week for lunch… not my cup of tea but she wanted their soup and sandwich meal. So, wtf… we both did the half and half. She had water I had tea…
G-Damn…little over 30 bucks for a little bowl of soup and half a sandwich. Never again.. hell, ate fish and chips last night for dinner at a place in Cumming. Over 40 f’n dollars with tip..so this week alone outside eating has cost me over a $100.
Told my wife..everything gonna have to be fixed at home. It ain’t that we can’t afford it, it’s just ridiculous and wasting money.

Yeah you can’t get a motel for a night on the water for that. You would pay more than $250 for taxes and fees. Lodging is another thing out of hand.

I have chickens and have “free” eggs as well. I drink a smoothie in the morning. Maybe I should meal prep breakfast and drink smoothie at lunch.

I agree. I can afford to eat lunch in town everyday dinner a few nights a week but it’s ridiculous. I’m also tired of mediocre food and so so service for premium pricing. .

A lot of times I just a can or 2 of sardines or viennie sausages.. my big meal is in the evening.. and it’s really not that big.. if I eat lunch at all.
I get squirrelly headed if I don’t eat lunch. I definitely don’t have to eat as big of a lunch. I try to eat enough to fight off the 3-4pm snack
