What is the dumbest thing you've seen/heard in a gun shop?

Several years ago my Dad and I were in a Gibsons Discount store in Junction City, Kansas. At the time my dad was a National Match Armorer working as a civilian for the army. He had been shooter and a gunsmith for the army for most of his career, only taking time off for combat tours. He liked to buy and rebuild 1911s and M1s to national match to resell. We were looking at some used 1911s they had for sale. The guy behind the counter infroms my dad that he was a National Match armorer and that he had accurized these guns and added National Match barrels, hammer and triggers. Well dad was listening to him chat away all the time breaking the 45 down into its indivdual pieces with nothing but a coin and his bare hands, no doubt probably the 5000 time he had done it without even looking at what he was doing. He got done, looked at the parts that were well used and abused, and told the guy he didn't want it, but since he was a gunsmith and an armorer he guessed he could put it back together again. We lleft the store but as we got to the car the manger of the gun departement caught up to us and asked my dad who he knew well, as dad did all their repair work for them, if he could please reassemble the 45. Dad said sure and we went back inside and got to hear this poor clown get fired.

One more story while I am om here. My dad was working out of a Large deuce and a half van at a match at Ft. Riley. I was just a kid probably 12 or 13 and not allowed up in the van while matches were going on. Guy walks up to the van and starts to climb the steps which is a no-no. Big sign saying wait at the bottom of the steps and some one will be right out to talk to you. Dad tells him to get off the steps, guy appears deaf and continues climbing. Dad tells him to go read the sign at the bottom of the stairs, apparently he is still deaf. Dad picks him up by the front of his blouse and walks him backwards to the bottm of the steps. Dad realizes this clown is not only deaf, but apparently was just struck by blindness as he appears to read the sign and starts back up the steps. I am moving away from the steps by now because my father does not deal real well with the criminally stupid and has a temper that only a former drill sargeant truy possesses and can let out. About this time a friend of this guy happens on the scene and stops the suicidal fool from damage. He expalins in what ever language this guy understands the proper procedure for getting your weapon worked on. Then he waits calmly at the bottom of the stairs until my dad comes out, he tells him and I **** you not "I have a .45 I'll let you look at." Dad's reply was priceless, "No thanks, I have seen one before." Never piss off an old school, crusty gunsmith.

Heard this from a employee at a indoor gun room/range. He told my dad that my moms 380 is worthless at any distance past 5 yards. I know it is no 45acp but come on!!! I can hit targets with it at longer ranges then that.

I went shooting at Ed's (now Georgia Firing Line) a long time ago and saw the guy next to me dual-wielding a semi and a revolver. About three or four rounds into his rapid fire session he shot down the line on my lane....after he shot the ceiling. I grabbed my stuff and hit the road.

Decided a few months later to give it a shot again. Went back and got on the rifle range where I saw an older man and a young teenager shooting an AR. The older man handed the gun to the teenager and he proceeded to shoot the floor a couple feet from me. Needless to say I never, ever go to an public range anymore.

I was told today that 9x19, 9x18, 9x17, and 9mm browning were all the same and interchangeable. I asked why they had different names then and he didn't know but be could google it......
