Thats a wild cherry tree.
Correct, the chemical breaks down into cyanide. If you don't eat it you should be fine.If so, be careful if you cut it down. As the leaves dry, they concentrate poison in them and can kill cows and horse.
How big are those? There's a tree I'm trying to remember the name of that I think is OP's tree but the berries are very small. About the size of a sweet pea. Probably smaller. No where near the size of a cherry. If I remember right, sometimes the berries ferment while still hanging and birds can become intoxicated eating them. But I know that happens with a variety of berry/fruit bearing trees. Here’s a close up of a wild cherry tree on my job. If the berries looked like this it’s cherry. If it looked like blue berry’s it’s a juneberrie. View attachment 3303802View attachment 3303803
Yeah they’re about the size of a pea. I’ve heard you can eat the cherry but have to spit out the seed on the inside due to the cyanide. After knowing that I’ve never tasted one!How big are those?
