I had a nifty S&W M&P 15R. It was a factory built ar made to fire 5.45×39. I had it since about '08. I liked it alot bought a dozen magazines for it but then didn't really shoot it a lot(or any guns) because well life. I got back into shooting recently and bought some of the newer non-corrosive ammo for it. Well no good it started keyholing almost every round after a 10 round warm up. Sent it to Smith and they were slow but still good service. They don't make it anymore and offered me something else. I'm trying to decide what a fair replacement will be. When they did sell these I don't remember what the msrp was but they were selling for about $900 when you could find them. It was well above the price and "trim" level of the 15 sport. What do folks think? I can even upgrade if I pay extra so that's something too.
