1971 Chevrolet Vega CamBack Wagon. It got about 35mpcoo (miles per can of oil).

1983 Pontiac Trans Am. Bought it for $1000 when I was still 15. Drove it after I got my license for about 3 months before totaling it into the back of a pick up truck on a blind hill. Man I loved that car, even though it was the crap-tastic 305, and the trans mounts were shot, so it thudded every time it shifted.

Okay,question; Why do Chevy/GM guys hate the 305 so much? I'm not a GM fan but this question has always been on my mind. When I ask most Chevy guys why they don't build a 305 the universal answer has always been. " Cause a 350 fits in the same hole." And I know there was something about the heads and something else I can't recall. But it seems to me that there must be boatloads of unloved 305s to be had out there. Now I just need to find one and a Chevette to stick it in.

Because many of them shipped with 2 barrel carbs, in boats. I had a 78 Regal with a factory Chevy 4 barrel 305, it liked to move. You knew when the 4 barrel opened up, and that was after the needle was pegged at 85.

Also, that 78 Regal was my first car. Given to me by my Grandfather, I turned the odometer over several times. My father ended up driving it to work years later and turned it over again. It went to the scrap yard in pieces when the uni-body started to fall apart.

1963 Buick Special, all aluminum V6. Ran like a top. But was a Wisconsin rust bucket. Had a date one Friday nite and snuck my dad's brand new Electra 225 454 out of the garage for the date. Totaled the Electra that nite. Dad made me sell the Special to pay the insurance deductible, we both lost cars that nite.

305 was a 2 bolt main heads did not flow well for a couple.

Mine was a 65 mustang built a 351w and packed it in it.
What happened to it? Nothing it's in the detached garage waiting to be freshened up soon I hope.
