What was your first car?...What happened to your first car?

Okay, question; Why do Chevy/GM guys hate the 305 so much? I'm not a GM fan but this question has always been on my mind. When I ask most Chevy guys why they don't build a 305 the universal answer has always been. " Cause a 350 fits in the same hole." And I know there was something about the heads and something else I can't recall. But it seems to me that there must be boatloads of unloved 305s to be had out there. Now I just need to find one and a Chevette to stick it in.
I'm lookin for a yugo to stick one in...motor will outlast the body i'm afraid

1974 VW Superbeetle. Pumpkin orange.

Totaled it at the top of the street I lived on in 77. Was pulling out and a large sedan came coming around a curve and caught the front bumper and sent it flying into someone's front yard. Bent the frame and was totaled.

Got a 74 Mercury Capri, "The Sexy European". Great car. Totaled it in 79 on the way home from UPS one night. Car just sitting in the middle of the road; no lights. Had paid it off the week before and dropped comprehensive. After towing and storage, I walked away with $600.

Bought a 1980 Suzuki GS 850 GT. Put a full Vetter package on it. Fairing, lowers, tail-trunk, saddle-bags and sound system. 33,000 mile in one year. It lasted a while. Totaled it in Nov '81 while on leave from AF Tech Training.

Might as well stop not. This could go on for a while...

a brown and tan station wagon we beat that thing with sledge hammers and it got stuck it the hood my dad sold it ..me and buddy where sitting around and saw it drive by on the flat bed with the sledge hammer still sticking out of the hood..we still laugh about to this day....too by young and dumb again..

1979 Buick regal. I wrapped it around a tree on the way to high school in 1987 a couple months after getting it. I worked my ass off to buy that car for $1500 during the summer. *sigh*

1967 vw pop top camper. Broke down on side of the road. That is where she stayed.......Tow company called for months to try and get money.....probably sold for scrap.....

bought a 1973 plymouth duster when i was 15. rebuilt the 225 slant 6 and new clutch and seals for the 3 speed. turned 16 drove it 6 months and sold it to buy a 68 ranchero. been buys and fixing old cars since for a hobby

'68 rust orange Dodge Dart 4-door with a Slant-6 I paid $500 for in 1998. Had it for 2 years.

Was headed to my girlfriend's one day when I made a left turn and the rear axle fell out. Scrapped it and bought a 87 Bronco II 4x4 with the money.

My first was a 66 Thunderbird
Bought it in 80 when I was 15

Was a basket case. I out it back together and drive it a bout 18 months
428 in it locked up

Traded it for a 69 thunderbird with a 429 and a 62 and a 63 mercury meteor

Traded the 63 meteor for a 69 mercury cyclone

The guy that got my 66 bird fixed it and his son promptly. Rolled it

Endo'ed it Rolled it forwards not sideways

Sold the cyclone at an auction. For $500 and at the same auction I almost bought a 69 GTO judge 455 4 speed. But i thought the reserve of $1600 was too high as did everyone else since no one bid on it

I did test drive it and didn't buy it because the hitter linkage was all messed up

'65 GTO (Get your Tools Out) spent as much time underneath it or over the fenders as driving. Right out of HS, my family moved to NY (Long Island). sold it there.
