What's your gun owner approach? Only own what you shoot? The more, the better?

I like to always have one 20 gauge break action (O/U or SxS) for quail hunting, one 12 gauge pump or semi-auto for dove and ducks, one 243 or larger caliber bolt action for deer, one 9mm pistol, one 45 pistol, one 22 lr just 'cause, one AR in 556, and one AK in 762x39. Everything else is gravy.

seems like after the first 3 everything else woulda been gravy to me

I have countless guns that I don't shoot very often most of which are .22 caliber rifles from the 20's and 30's I usually pick them up cheap restore them and stick them in the safe I might be culling the herd pretty soon as there's no more room in the 22 safe

I like to have different guns for different purposes. I may not shoot some as often as I'd like, but it's nice to have them when I want/need them. i.e. concealed carry handgun for protection, large bore handgun for hunting, 10/22 for squirrels, 7mm for hunting, and so forth. I only have 2 rifles that sit in the safe and I don't plan to use often. My .30-30 which my dad gave to me and was my first firearm ever that I plan to give to my kid (when I have one) and my POS M44 Carbine which was the first ever rifle I bought with my own money for $80 just because it has sentimental value.

Dang you have a dedicated .22 safe? My safe is my dresser, or waistband, or seat of my blazer lol

I am both a collector and a shooter. I have guns that I have never shot and likely never will. Even some that I would shoot are just waiting in the safe for when I find time to go to the range. As I think about it I have more that I have not shot than those that I have. As someone else said I try to only buy guns of quality that appeal to me. At the moment that main reason for not shooting has been finding the time away from work to do so. Same reason for my golf clubs gathering dust.
