Seriously what happened to all of the Fox Body Mustangs? I've been looking for a nice notchback coupe for several years and they are an endangered species now. I get that they're all over 30 years old and the prices have risen quite a bit but I can't find anything other than ragged out project cars that people want $10k+ for.

Ideally I'd like an 89 LX in dark blue with 03 Terminator wheels. Pure sexiness

They’ve all been modded to race cars because of their long history hookin in places other cars won’t. If you do find a nice one, you’ll pay twice what the car cost new these days

I loved the GT LX cars. The state patrol actually used those for a while.

Yeah that's what I've been seeing. Especially the notchback coupes because they are so much lighter. Get one from the late '80s without airbags, rip off all the smog crap, throw on some aluminum heads and you've got a 2800lb car. Nothing today can compete with that. Even a new Porsche GT3 RS is over 3000 lb.

Good luck. Need to find an old 4 banger and convert it! I was looking too but gave up.

I had an '89 LX that was a converted four cylinder car. Makes no difference to me if it's original or not and the insurance is cheaper that way too. But I'd rather pay a little more for something that I can drive and enjoy immediately

Hang in there, you'll find what you're looking for

You would think so wouldn't you? I have $15k in cash burning a hole in my pocket right now but I just haven't found anything close to what I'm looking for. I'm definitely not going to fork that over for some clapped out wannabe drag car with a ripped up interior and no air conditioning.

While we're on that subject, stop ripping air conditioning out of classic cars! You aren't going to notice any performance difference by getting rid of a 15lb compressor. Stop it. Just stop it.

My 700hp Monte Carlo has A/C. But I can tell you, it's a pill to use it. Just about have to be goin down the highway just so you don't have running problems. Fortunately I don't usually run the air in my car unless it's 90*. Of course I can't get away with that with the wife.....
Wait and get just what you want for a good price. Patience is key. Plus better investment is to keep adding to it and buy a house. :becky:

Was it converted to r134? None of those old r12 cars that have been converted to r134 have ever worked right in my opinion.

Man I would gladly pay several thousand dollars more for a car that still had a functional r12 air conditioning system. I remember my parents had an '86 Buick Skylark that would shoot icicles out of the vents as soon as you hit the switch. Nothing they make today can ever compare.
