Top fuel was only in reference to 500 cu in max is good enough for me. Caddy made a 501. Short lived, but good none the less. As my journey, I've moved into professional race engines last umpteen years.

Looking at those pics, I had an 83 GT with the TRX wheels. It was a factory rep car. Higher performance than a stock car. It was pretty cool!

I bought a 89 GT back in 95 for $6k. I deleted the mufflers & proceeded to rag it out!!
It was a lot more comfortable than my sisters 85 Camero, especially getting out of. I believe the Fox was faster but the Chevy was pretty dang fast and handled great.

This right here. They used to be TOO cheap which made them easy targets for mouth breathers. Hell I used to work at an auto salvage that specialized in Fox body's. The **** some of those guys did to them was disgraceful. I used to say that the Fox Mustang was the 10/22 of automobiles due to the aftermarket support that could not be beaten. Turns out it's more like the SKS of automobiles given the horrifically tacky **** I've seen done to them.
And somewhere way back when Car Craft and Hot Rod magazine blabbed the secret about the Fairmont being a Fox platform car too. Cause that's what I used to want for bolting the Fox body goodies to. Well...IF ... you can find a Fairmont at all these days it will cost more than a damn Fox body.
