Why the hate for the S&W 40 cal

I shoot a .45.. Because they Don’t make a .46...
Recoil
The felt recoil for a .40 is much more than a .45.

People who have used both these guns have described .40 recoil as "sharp and snappy" and slower to get back on target for follow up shots. [1].

The .45 recoil seems to be heavier and pushes one's hands backwards instead of up. It does not have much muzzle flip. [2]
 
Most of the cryin is from flippers buying 275 to 300 dollar used fotays and butthurt they are "loballed" here when they ask 450 for them.

It is a fotay, you paid above market if you got 300 in it.
 
I never thought of .40 as too snappy until the internet told me, so I guess it must be...

I can carry almost any common caliber and not have a problem with any of them. If I die because I can't successfully defend myself with a handgun, the caliber will probably be the last reason why.

.40 has lightweight recoil in comparison to some of the rounds out there. My S&W airweight shooting .38+p is a lot more "snappy". That's just one example.
